Support the Engine Department with cleaning, basic maintenance and machinery-space duties under the supervision of engineering personnel.
Key responsibilities
- Maintain cleanliness and housekeeping standards in engine-room and machinery spaces
- Assist with basic maintenance, cleaning and preparation of machinery components
- Support Engineers and engine ratings with tools, materials and routine tasks
- Assist with bilge, waste and machinery-space housekeeping activities within assigned duties
- Report leaks, unsafe conditions and defects to supervising personnel
- Participate in drills and emergency duties
You’ll bring
- Previous engine-room or mechanical experience is advantageous
- Cruise or passenger vessel experience preferred but not essential where otherwise suitable
- Basic mechanical aptitude and safe-working awareness
- STCW certification appropriate to rating duties
- A valid seafarer medical and good working English
