Safety Officer

Support and oversee the vessel’s shipboard safety management activities, drills, inspections, training and compliance under the Master and senior Deck leadership.

Key responsibilities

  • Coordinate and monitor shipboard safety inspections, drills and emergency preparedness activities
  • Track safety observations, corrective actions and compliance with SMS procedures
  • Support risk assessments, permit-to-work controls and safety meetings
  • Maintain safety records and assist with statutory and internal inspections
  • Provide safety guidance and training to shipboard departments
  • Monitor lifesaving, firefighting and occupational-safety standards within assigned responsibility

You’ll bring

  • Previous Safety Officer experience on a cruise or passenger vessel strongly preferred
  • An appropriate Deck Officer CoC or other company-approved marine qualification for the role
  • Strong knowledge of STCW, SOLAS, ISM and occupational safety principles
  • Experience conducting drills, inspections and safety training
  • Excellent English and strong administrative and reporting ability
