Lead the deck ratings in the safe execution of deck maintenance, seamanship, mooring and operational duties under the direction of the Deck Officers.
Key responsibilities
- Supervise ABs, OSs and other deck ratings during daily work
- Organise and carry out planned deck maintenance, including preservation, painting, greasing and upkeep of deck equipment
- Lead mooring, anchoring, tender, gangway and general seamanship operations as directed
- Inspect deck machinery, ropes, wires, lifting gear and safety equipment and report defects
- Allocate work, monitor standards and ensure safe working practices and PPE compliance
- Support drills, emergency duties and passenger-vessel operations as assigned
You’ll bring
- Previous Bosun experience on a cruise, passenger or comparable large vessel
- Strong practical seamanship, mooring and deck-maintenance experience
- The ability to supervise and motivate a multinational rating team
- STCW certification and medical fitness appropriate to rank
- Good working English
